Scope of Practice:
Defined in the Veterinary Practice Standards for: Licensed Veterinary Technicians, the Scope of Practice dictates what tasks may be performed by Licensed Veterinary Technicians and under what level of supervision (Immediate, Direct, Indirect).

CE Requirements
Continuing education (CE) is a requirement of renewal per S.C. Code of Law §40-69- 250(A) and S.C Regulation 120-6.
• Per Board Regulations, for biennial renewal, twelve (12) CE hours are required for veterinary technicians.

A minimum of six (6) of those hours must be in veterinary medical courses
No fewer than six (6) of those hours must be live in-person or live digital interactive programs. The remaining six (6) hours may be from pre-recorded or written continuing education courses.
CE Licensing Period
The current licensing cycle runs from April 1, 2025 to January 1, 2027. ​​
